Student Experience is committed to providing educational, cultural, social, recreational, and leadership opportunities to our students.

We strive to develop and employ strategies that are responsive to the diverse needs of the university community and foster an environment that boosts retention and graduation rates.

As an extension of the educational process, it is the vision of Student Engagement to enhance the opportunities for students to explore their individual skills and talents. By encouraging personal growth through participation in leadership experiences and student organizations, university activities, and community service projects, we are preparing students for a competitive global society.

The Office of Student Experience provides many opportunities for students, including student leadership opportunities, Greek life, clubs/organizations, community service, commuter affairs, intramural sports and recreation, as well as many cultural and social student events.

Your college years prepare you not only academically, but socially as well. There are many benefits to joining a student organization, including making new friends, developing leadership skills and abilities, working as part of a team, learning to set and achieve goals, and sharing your time and talents, as well as having fun! As you begin to take advantage of the opportunities available to you at UMES, you will discover that the more involved you are, the more you will benefit from it and the more meaningful your college experience will be.

Student Experience is a team of professional staff members who are committed to promoting and facilitating activities and leadership development for the UMES community.

We advise and support many college clubs and organizations, campus programs, and activities. Involvement in student organizations helps promote your learning and growth while at the university. The experiences you have outside the classroom often complement what’s happening inside the classroom.
